These pianos are made-in-Japan and it shows in their superior quality to the Indonesian-made B and P series. In fact we've been to see them being manufactured in Yamaha's new state of the art factories, and it's very impressive.

Yamaha is an ambitious and forward thinking company, always looking to improve and build on their success and they haven't spent the last 30-40 years standing still. Improvements in materials, soundboard and frame design, and the precision with which modern technology enables action parts to be made have all left their mark on these instruments, not to mention the much improved, air-conditioned environment in which they are now built.

For these reasons, in our opinion the current U-series models are substantially superior to the U1 and U3 models made in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and offered so widely in a 're-conditioned' state.
