What they say

For years, top players have been attracted to a unique trumpet they noticed while on international tours. It was a high-grade handcrafted professional model called ‘Xeno’, and it was sold only to samurai. At least, that’s what the pros started saying, only half in jest, when Yamaha steadfastly refused to make the Xeno available anywhere but in Japan. "We’re not yet ready to send it out into the world," we explained. "We’re making it perfect, refining it down to the smallest detail." Patiently, step by step, year after year, we worked our way through every tiny element-from brace size and position, to mouthpiece receiver design, to bell material processing techniques-until we had created what we consider the pinnacle in the art of trumpet manufacture: the Xeno. Built with the spirit of perfection. Ready for the world.

Xeno (pronounced ‘Zeno’) trumpets are designed for those who want power and projection as well as a big warm sound. Developed from more than 30 years’ research with leading artists throughout the world, Xeno trumpets incorporate their dreams, their experience, and their talents - as realised through the skills and ideas of some of the world’s best designers and craftspersons. Traditional hand-craftsmanship augmented by cutting edge manufacturing technology has created an extraordinary quality of unprecedented consistency. The Xeno’s heavyweight construction produces a solid tone core for a rich strong sound that won’t spread or break up no matter how hard you push it. It blows freely and comfortably, while still providing enough air resistance for quick response and superb tonal flexibility. And the hand-hammered one-piece bell gives an agile, quick response with a beautiful tone.

Bell

A new bell design contributes to optimum resistance for a powerful tonal core. The new design also enhances playability in the upper register.

Valve casing and pistons

Thinner valve casing and pistons, as well as the modified angle of the branch tube (knuckle), result in improved response and provide the performer with an ideal blowing resistance.

Button on the 1st slide

The button on the 1st slide is to fine-tune the blowing resistance for better control.

Water key

The height of the main slide water key gutter has been increased for optimum resistance, and the ends of the water key spring have been curled for improved response.
