Unknown colleagues of Dmitri Shostakovich put together a charming eight-movement suite from film and stage scores, probably in the 1950s. Waltz No. 2 included in this Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra enjoys great international popularity and has also been used in numerous films, among others. This piece has been arranged many times for various instrumentations. The virtuoso transcription presented here was written by Belgian pianist Florian Noack, who received the Echo Klassik Award as "Young Artist of the Year" in 2015, and became known not least through Noack’s own recording on YouTube.
