Unknown colleagues of Dmitri Shostakovich put together a charming eight-movement suite from film and stage scores, probably in the 1950s. Waltz No. 2 included in this Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra enjoys great international popularity and has also been used in numerous films, among others. This piece has been arranged many times for various instrumentations. Richard Kula's present arrangement makes the waltz accessible to pianists as well.
